About Me
EnglishMandarin
Joey Liang is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in Ontario. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work degree in 2023 and has been practicing as a registered social worker since then. Joey provides individual psychotherapy in both Mandarin and English. She works with adults experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, interpersonal relationship challenges, identity exploration, and major life transitions.
Born and raised in China, Joey came to Canada during early adulthood as an international student. Having navigated cultural adjustment and identity shifts firsthand, she understands the complexity of building belonging across cultures. This perspective informs her work with individuals exploring cultural identity, intergenerational expectations, and integration.
Her approach is integrative and relational. At the core of her work is Person-Centered Therapy, grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins in a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected. She integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) alongside mindfulness-based skills to support emotional regulation and psychological flexibility. Sessions are collaborative and structured when needed, integrating reflection with practical tools to support emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and more intentional ways of living.
She is LGBTQ+ affirming and committed to creating a warm, inclusive, and non-judgmental therapeutic space for individuals from diverse cultural, racial, and sexual identities.
